I have spent many many years trading and looking at the FX markets, from a position inside some of the world’s banks and also from my own private trading account. When people start buying the dollar, this drags in other people who also want to buy the dollar, until, ultimately the dogs on the street want to buy the dollar and the trend is already long gets even longer and steeper. This is momentum trading and this is the edge that other human beings via their actions give us for free. That’s it, that’s all there is to it. No fancy algo, no fancy indicators.
